Contractors
What permissions and safety rules apply to filming on job sites?
Get written permission from the property owner before filming, ideally a line in your contract allowing photos and video of the work with personal details excluded. For commercial sites, check with the GC and owner; many restrict photography of security systems, tenants or proprietary layouts. Keep house numbers, license plates, family photos, mail and faces of residents out of frame, and don't tag exact addresses. Get employee consent for appearing on camera. Follow site safety rules while filming: PPE on everyone in the shot, no unsafe shortcuts shown, never film while operating equipment. Footage showing safety violations can create liability. Delete or blur anything sensitive before posting. McCrawAI builds these rules into every contractor engagement, and we also review footage before anything is posted.
Follow-up questions
Do I need a written release to post photos of a customer's home?
It's a good practice. A clause in your contract or a short written agreement avoids misunderstandings.
What if a general contractor prohibits photos?
Follow their rules. You can often still capture your own work for internal records with permission.
Can I show my crew's faces?
With their permission, yes. Some people prefer not to appear, and that's their choice.
